Paradigm - A set of assumptions, concepts, values, and practices that constitutes a way of viewing reality for the community that shares them.
Paradigm shifts in the fashion world:
1) If you were a woman, back in "the day", it was scandalous to show your wrists or ankles, so the only garments available to women were long dresses with incredibly long sleeves. Pants on women were also forbidden. Nowadays, its perfectly acceptable to wear jeans, and show a significant amount of skin.
2) Brights vs. neutrals. This is an everchanging paradigm. From Coco Chanel's time, where too many colours was seen as excessively tacky, to the 60s era where a wide array of colours was groovy.
3) Birkenstocks. The paradigm that birkenstocks will never be fashionable should never change. Hopefully.
Oh yeah, I went there.
There is also the somewhat ridiculous paradigm shift going on right now as well, pertaining to the entertainment world. The obsession of the magical world of Harry Potter (bleh) is being overcome by the obsession with twilight (bleh). Just thought Id throw that one out there.
PS. 20 cents = a pair a' dime. =)
